Ring Video Doorbell Proves Its Worth…

I came across this interesting article about the Ring video doorbell just last week in my home town of Phoenix. I’ve said this to everyone I know and I’ll say it again. Getting a smart video doorbell is well worth the cost.

The man says he got an alert from his “Ring” camera on Tuesday morning that a package had arrived at his front door. About 90 minutes later he got another alert that showed a woman grabbing the package and then taking off in an SUV. He says he rushed home and spotted the alleged thieves’ car parked nearby.

“We just pulled up to them, came out of the car and said we have video of them stealing our package and asked for it back,” he said. “They handed it to us right away. He’s hoping others will learn from his experience and consider investing in outdoor security cameras.

I’ve have personally installed nearly a dozen smart doorbells, mostly the Ring brand. They have 2 models, the Ring video doorbell and the Ring Pro. Both have pros and cons.

Ring Pro:

Wired only, no battery option (and you must have a somewhat powerful transformer to power it)
1080p video resolution
Motion detection is available in custom set zones
Can initiate a live view upon demand
Comes with 4 switchable face plates
Currently sells for about $250 USD (as of publication date)

Both advertise that they can be installed by the consumer. And they can, but I’ve done enough of these to tell you that it is not for the faint of heart. And those who need the Ring, like those with disabilities or mobility issues, will not be able to do it. If you are not a handy-man / tech guru like me, I suggest you hire someone to do it right.
